We are updating the local policies in our planning scheme to improve the framework we use to make planning decisions. The policies are being introduced through Amendment C269.

This update to the Yarra planning scheme ensures our policies reflect the needs of our growing and evolving city. It also presents them in a new format recently introduced by the State Government through the State Government's Smart Planning program to simplify and modernise Victoria’s planning policy and rules.

Amendment C269 updates some of the existing policies and introduces new ones. Some of these changes are simply adapting existing policy to the new format.

Extensive community feedback was used to develop Amendment C269. This was collected through a number of projects, beginning with our Liveable Yarra community panel in 2015. Find out who we talked to and what we heard.

Additionally, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has been consulted and involved through the translation of the planning scheme and the proposed changes.

When can you view the Amendment and make a submission?

Amendment C269 was on exhibition between Thursday 20 August and Friday 4 December 2020. During that time, people who may be affected by the Amendment were able to comment on the changes by making a written submission.

See the submissions we received on the Amendment.
